Mother Hen Do's Are Becoming More Popular

Having a luxurious hen night is no longer what first time brides want.

Times have changed, the modest hen night has become a competing sport requiring months of planning, the exchange of lots of emails and several days off work.

These mother hen dos are the latest addition to an ever growing and everchanging industry. According to sociologist Beth Montemurro, she says organised hen do companies and club nights just didn't exist, but now the industry is driving a trend to even higher excesses.

The pre-nuptial party phenomenon is now a £275 million pound industry. It seems that older hens tend to travel overseas, mostly because they want to get away for a few days as they have children. They also have more money that they can spend.

In the old days, hen nights were few and far between as many people just celebrated their last night with a quiet group meal and drinks with a few friends. The average cost of a hen do is now £157 per person, 20 years later. Hen parties are routinely a weekend long now.

It shouldn't be a shock that those who married before the full-scale hen dos became popular want to have one this time around, as they can be really fun and they give you an opportunity to meet new people.
